Speech Writing Example – 1
Your college has organized an elocution competition on World Blind Day. Prepare a speech stating the importance of eye donation to be given before the college students.
Respected Principal, teachers & my dear friends,
Today I am here to speak a few words on the topic- importance of eye donation. The famous poet Sylvia Plath in one of her poems says –
‘I shut my eyes and all the world drops dead;
I lift my eyes and all is born again.’
Eyes! It is one of the wonderful gift God has given us. We are able to see this beautiful world, colourful things, delightful people only because of our eyes. Just imagine, how do we feel when the electricity goes down at night? We are scared of not able to see anything. The blind people have to live with the same feeling throughout their lives. But I and you and we all can do a small thing and bring a ray of light in their lives.
Yes! By donating our eyes, we can help the blind to see this colourful, wonderful world. For this, we have to pledge our eyes. This way we can even make our eyes immortal. After our death our eyes will continue to exist in this world. Don’t you think eye donation is a worthy donation? You may follow what Sir Kristian Goldmund Aumann has said – “ If your eyes dwell in your heart; then your inner voice will be your congenial Guide.”
Friends, I wish, you all understand the need of time and decide to pledge your eyes. Donate your eyes so that they will remain forever. In the end, I thank everybody for quietly listening to my speech.
